Skywords has taken the time to train and develop the most accomplished traffic reporting specialists and Airborne reporters in Canada. Thorough training of pilots and broadcasters establishes a consistent and effective service 'on the air' and 'in the air,' Annual proficiency exams for pilots and, annual and quarterly air checks for broadcasters, ensure an ongoing attention to high standards.
Captain Frank - Captain Frank is one of the premier airborne traffic reporters in Canada. He is the winner of the Achievement Award from National Transportation Week in Association with the Ontario Trucking Association. Frank is the most listened to traffic reporter in Canada.
Fred Locking - Grew up in Port Elgin, Ontario. knew when I was younger that I wanted to be a broadcaster. Started radio in 1967 at CHIC in Brampton as an operator and newscaster. Moved on to CHUM for a brief stint, then off to CFGM in Richmond Hill where I did nes and traffic before switching to sports. After that I headed over to CFRB in 1974, and spent just over 17 years there. I joined TSN for the next 7 and a half years. Then I did some work for 680 News and the Fan 590 before joining Skywords Traffic in the fall of 2002. Married my lovely wife Jennifer in 1977, no kids. My hobbies include listening and collecting all kids of music, playing drums and traveling to NASCAR races.
Lisa Morales - It all started when I was about….oh 5 or so. I remember sitting in my room, staring at this radio my parents had given me as a birthday gift. I heard these random voices, music, and the list went on. I was fascinated!! From then on, I knew someday I would become one of those voices too! Well, not so fast. As time passed me by, I was convinced that acting was where I belonged. So I tried out for Claude Watson (school for the arts), and the next thing you know, the road to stardom had begun. My dream of becoming an actress was finally coming true. I graduated from the Drama major program, but things weren’t easy. I soon came to the realization that acting wasn’t for everyone, especially me. It was time to reconsider another career. Ah yes, that’s where Radio came in to play. I managed to land a Co-op position @ CHRY York University Radio, and from then on it was like a roller coaster ride. I took the necessary measures to enroll myself in the Radio Broadcasting program at Humber College. 23 months had gone by and the next thing you know, Skywords became my new home. The rest is all history. There I am now, in front of that Traffic poster. ‘NO ONE GETS AWAY CLEAN’. That’s my motto here….just kidding! I’ve been very fortunate to be a part of Skywords for over 2 years, and have no intentions of leaving anytime soon!
Meital Sperling - I was born just outside Nazareth, Israel and when I was one year old my family decided to move back to Toronto. For as long as I can remember my dream has to be on the radio. I knew it was my calling because I never excelled at math or science… After high school I enrolled in the Radio Broadcasting Program at Seneca College and graduated with honours. Right out of college I moved to Ottawa to help launch CHIN Radio and worked as part of the management team. I moved back to Toronto with the hopes of achieving my dream of being on the air…Now I have been at Skywords for one year and I can be heard from Barrie to Belleville and right here at home in Toronto.
